Sensitive measurement from rotary switches to engine test benches
Torques need to be measured in production and installation as well as in quality control and research. The range from the precision measurement technology specialist burster therefore starts with the smallest torques in the range of a few tenths of a Nm, e.g. for the quality assurance of small rotary switches, and extends up to torques of 1,000 Nm for use on engine test benches. The model 8661 torque sensor (Fig. 1), for example, is therefore available in several sizes: on the one hand for sensitive measuring from 0 to 0.02 Nm, e.g. for determining a breakaway or friction torque as well as the rotary speed up to 25,000 rpm. With the largest design, up to 1,000 Nm can be measured. It is therefore suitable for (mechanical) testing of large engines and transmissions. Common to all measuring ranges is the very low non-linearity of less than 0.05 % of the final value. The specialists also offer solutions for special tasks. These include dual-range sensors with high precision for both measuring ranges. This means, for example, that a low continuous load torque can also be measured with the best possible accuracy for test specimens with a high starting torque. The robust design of the sensors and optional features such as a tare setting or filter and mean value setting can open up a wide range of applications, even under price-sensitive or difficult conditions.
The suitable sensor for every task
In-house production allows customisation of both the mechanics and the electronics. This means that even special OEM requirements can be realised quickly. A mounting rack simplifies alignment and thus facilitates frequent sensor changes. The measured values, torque plus angular displacement and speed measurement depending on the model, are transmitted as an analogue signal with 0 ... ±10 VDC or via USB connection. With the DigiVision software, up to 1,000 measurements per second can be read out, visualised and saved. Alternatively, drivers are also available for integration into LabVIEW, DASYLab or your own programmes. The DIGIFORCE process control instruments can be used to flexibly implement measurement programmes for various processes. All torque sensors are available with a DAkkS/WKS calibration certificate. An in-house, accredited calibration laboratory creates test and calibration reports for existing sensors if required.
About burster
Whether individual metrological components or system solutions, burster mainly supplies users in mechanical and plant engineering, automation, automotive engineering with supplier industry, electrical engineering, electronics and the chemical industry. The portfolio includes measuring and testing devices as well as standard sensors for mechanical and electrical measured variables, such as force, compression, torque and displacement sensors and milli and megohmmeters or resistance decades. Individual, customised OEM solutions are also possible, e.g. for many other industries and future or niche markets such as medical technology and biotechnology. Our many years of experience in the construction of metrological sensors and devices always guarantees optimised solutions. Sensors, amplifier and transmitter modules, precision measuring devices and measuring systems for sensor signal processing are supplied to customers all over the world from the development and production site in Germany.
