Transient cookies are automatically deleted when you close the browser. This particularly includes session cookies. They store a so-called session ID which permits various queries of your browser to be associated with the common session. They make it possible for your computer to be recognized when you return to our websites. The session cookies are deleted when you log off or close the browser.

Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a predefined period, each of which can differ by cookie. You can delete the cookies in the security settings of your browser at any time.

Google Analytics

Our websites use Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google” herein). Pseudonymous user profiles are created and cookies used in this connection. Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies” - text files that are stored on your computer to facilitate an analysis of your usage of the website.

The information generated by the cookie on your use of this website, such as:

  • Browser type/version
  • Operating system used
  • Referring URL (the page just visited)
  • Hostname of the accessing computer (IP address)
  • Time of the server request

is generally transmitted to a server of Google in the United States and stored there. In our case, we decided on storing the data for fifty months in order to be able to compile four years of retrospective visitor and usage statistics for our websites. Through the activation of IP anonymization on our websites, however, your IP address is truncated in advance by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states which are party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a server of Google in the United States and truncated there.

Google will use this information on our behalf to evaluate your use of the Website, to compile reports about website activities and to provide further services for the website operator which are associated with website and Internet usage. Through the statistics obtained we can improve our offering and develop it in a more interesting way for you as the user.

This information is also transmitted to third parties as appropriate if required by law or if we commission third parties to process this data. In no event is your IP address conflated with other data by Google.

For exceptional cases in which personal data is transmitted to the United States, Google has subjected itself to the EU-US Privacy Shield. The legal basis for the use of Google Analytics is Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 (f) GDPR. Google observes the data protection provisions of the “US Privacy Shield“ and is registered with the “US Privacy Shield” program of the U.S. Department of Commerce. We have additionally entered into a contact processing agreement with Google for the use of Google Analytics. Through this agreement, Google assures that it processes the data in conformity with the General Data Protection Regulation and ensures the protection of the rights of the data subject.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by appropriately setting your browser software; in this case, however, please note that you might not be able to fully use all functions offered by this website.

In addition, you can prevent data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) from being collected and processed by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link.

You can find further information on data processing by Google in the Google Privacy Policy and some further information on data privacy in connection with Google Analytics in Google Analytics help.

Google AdWords Conversion Tracking

Our websites use Google Conversion Tracking of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google” herein) to call attention to our offerings by means of advertising media (so-called Google AdWords) on external websites. We can ascertain how successful the individual advertising efforts are in relation to the data of the advertising campaigns. With this, we pursue our interest in displaying advertising that is of interest to you, in designing our website in a way that you find more interesting and to attain a fair calculation of advertising costs.

Google delivers this advertising media through so-called “ad servers.” For this, we use ad server cookies through which the specific parameters for assessing performance - such as ad overlays or clicks by users - can be measured. If you reach our website through a Google ad, a cookie is stored on your PC by Google AdWords. These cookies normally lose their validity after thirty days and are not intended to serve to identify you personally. The analytical values that are normally stored for this cookie are the unique cookie ID, number of ad impressions per placement (frequency), last impression (relevant for post-view conversions) and opt-out information (designation that the user no longer wishes to be addressed).

These cookies make it possible for Google to recognize your web browser. If a user visits certain pages of the website of an AdWords customer and the cookie stored on his computer has not yet expired, Google and the customer can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was forwarded to this page. A different cookie is assigned to each AdWords customer. Cookies therefore cannot be tracked through the websites of AdWords customers. We ourselves do not collect and process any personal data in the advertising efforts mentioned. We are only provided statistical analyses by Google. By means of these analyses, we can recognize which of the employed advertising efforts are especially effective. We do not receive further data from use of the advertising media, especially not the ability to identify users based on this information.

With the marketing tool used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection with the server of Google. We have no influence on the scope and further use of the data that is gathered by Google through the use of this tool and are therefore informing you in accordance with our level of knowledge: Through the integration of AdWords Conversion, Google receives the information that you have called up the corresponding part of our website or clicked on one of our ads. If you have registered with a service of Google, Google can allocate the visit to your account. Even if you are not registered or have not logged in at Google, it is possible for the provider to learn and store your IP address.

You can prevent participation in this tracking procedure in different ways:

  • Through a corresponding setting of your browser software, especially through the suppression of third-party cookies, you will not receive any ads from third-party providers;
  • Through deactivation of cookies for conversion tracking, by setting your browser in such a way that cookies are blocked by the domain “www.googleadservices.com”; https://www.google.de/settings/ads; this setting is deleted when you delete your cookies;
  • Through deactivation of the interest-related ads of the provider that are part of the self-regulation campaign “About Ads” through the link http://www.aboutads.info/choices; this setting is deleted when you delete your cookies;
  • Through permanent deactivation in your Firefox, Internet Explorer or Google Chrome browsers at the link http://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin. We would point out that in this case you may not be able to use the full extent of all functions of this website.

The legal basis for the processing of your data is Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 (f) GDPR. Google has submitted to the EU-US Privacy Shield. We have additionally entered into a contract processing agreement with Google for the use of Google AdWords. Through this agreement, Google assures that it processes the data in conformity with the General Data Protection Regulation and ensures the protection of the rights of the data subject.

You can find Google’s privacy notice on conversion tracking here.

Our websites use the tool Google Tag Manager of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google” herein). The Tool Tag Manager itself (which implements tags) is a cookieless domain. The tool triggers other tags that themselves capture data in some circumstances. Google Tag Manager does not access this data. When a deactivation has been performed at the domain or cookie level, this remains in force for all tracking tags that are implemented with Google Tag Manager.

You can find further information on Google Tag Manager in the usage guidelines for this product.
