Measurement technology for pharmaceutical and medical devices and systems

Highest precision for medical technology:
Metrological components from burster

In medical technology, maximum precision, reliability and flexible integration options are essential. Whether in diagnostics, surgical procedures or laboratory automation - metrological components must deliver exact measurement results to ensure the safety and efficiency of medical applications.

Maximum accuracy for critical applications

Medical devices and systems often operate in the micro or even nanometre range, where the smallest deviations can have serious consequences. Sensors and measuring systems are therefore required that reliably record exact data with maximum repeatability. High-precision measurement technology solutions from burster fulfil these demanding requirements.

Flexible integration into existing systems

Medical technology is constantly evolving, meaning that measurement systems need to be seamlessly integrated into different applications. Compact designs, variable interfaces and customisable software solutions are crucial for efficient system integration. burster offers customised solutions that can be flexibly integrated into existing processes.

Modern interfaces for a digital future

Digitalisation in medical technology requires powerful interfaces that enable fast and secure data transmission. Whether analogue or digital signals, industrial fieldbus systems or IoT connections - burster provides innovative sensor electronics and evaluation units that ensure reliable communication with control systems and higher-level networks.

Venous cannulas are subject to the highest quality requirements during the manufacturing process. In the end-of-line test, the ease of movement of the steel needle is tested during full movement in the flexible cannula catheter.

Solution
The DIGIFORCE® 9307 records and analyses the force/displacement curves of two test specimens simultaneously. A gripper is applied to the two cannulas and performs a uniform back and forth movement. Sensitive bending beam force sensors from the burster 8510 series record the low frictional forces, which are analysed in the DIGIFORCE® controller. The displacement signal is transferred directly from the actuator unit.

  • 100% test during series production
  • Friction force test (ease of movement) during the movement of the steel needle in the cannula
  • Two synchronised tests can be carried out in one sequence

Titanium dental implants are screwed to the crowns at the dentist. The torque should be monitored when screwing the implants together. It is usually between 15 ... 50 Ncm at a speed between 1500 ... 2500 1/min.

Special requirements

  • High reproducibility
  • High speed
  • Mechanical stability
  • Extremely low torques
  • Extremely low-friction sensor bearing

Solution
The torque sensor type 8661 was used for torque measurement. Efficiency is measured in the test setup. The comparison between drive and brake, i.e. torque and speed, is the measure of quality.

  • High dynamics
  • High sensitivity for bidirectional torque measurements
  • Standardised output signal
  • Torque, speed and power measurement
  • Optical status display for distance monitoring

For special measuring tasks, it is often difficult or impossible to find a suitable sensor in the standard range. A newly designed or modified sensor is therefore the right solution - just for you. The extremely sensitive blood pressure measurement on the eye was only made possible by our MySensor option.

Solution
The patented combination of the sensor with a Goldmann three-mirror glass to form a "contact glass dynamometer" allows medical examinations of the human eye to be carried out. An extremely minimal force is applied via the contact glass to increase the intraocular pressure. Vascular pulsations in the eye, in response to the force exerted, allow conclusions to be drawn about systemic blood pressure, orbital tissue pressure and intracranial pressure.

  • Extremely flat design
  • Detection of the smallest forces
  • Minimal temperature drift due to decoupling of the sensor body
  • Overload protection
  • Patented medical device
