In practice, there is often a requirement to convert the measurement signals from a sensor in its immediate vicinity into a Standard signal as simply as possible. This makes it possible to transmit the measured values to the control room or system controller over longer distances without interference and with low loss.
The in-line measuring amplifier, which is inserted between the connection cable using plug contacts, is ideal for this purpose. Due to its compact, robust design and low weight, it can be used in almost any application. Even flexible locations subject to acceleration forces, e.g. on handling devices, are unproblematic. It is primarily designed for use outside a control cabinet at almost any location and is permanently calibrated to a sensor. The aluminium cabinet is extremely robust and offers maximum protection even in harsh environments.
The in-line measuring amplifier itself is operated with voltages between 15 V and 30 V. From this, it first generates a stable excitation voltage for the sensor supply. The measurement signals from the sensor, which are usually between 0 ... 5 mV and 0 ... 10 mV, are amplified to analogue 0 ... 10 V AC.
The sensitivity of the sensor is initially roughly preset using a DIP switch through an opening in the housing. Fine tuning of the zero-point and gain setting is carried out via multi-turn trimmers, accessible with a screwdriver through holes in the side of the cabinet. The amplifier's terminals are realised via Sub-D connectors or sockets, short-circuit proof sensor supply and amplifier supply source in addition safety during installation. Mounting the amplifier with cabinet to its surroundings - if necessary at all - is achieved by clamping, gluing or using the toothed tape component holder included in the scope of delivery. The cut-off frequency of the amplifier is > 1kHz, its weight < 65 g.
