Due to the high resolution, even with long deflections, accurate linear displacement measurements can be carried out up to 900 mm. Conversions from rotational to translational movements via ball screws, wire or cord connections and the like are not necessary with direct displacement measurement.

Due to their technology, potentiometric displacement sensors always work with a slider system. The resistance tracks are trimmed in special processes for low friction, low stick-slip tendency, abrasion resistance and long-term consistency.
The push rod is guided in an oscillating, low-backlash front bearing. It absorbs low angular and parallel misalignment. The guide tube and slider block have particularly tight tolerances to ensure reliable slider contact.
A ball joint (see accessories) at the end of the push rod minimises axial errors between the sensor and the movement device.
