Inside the multi-component force transducer are two 90° offset webs, each with a strain gauge full bridge, which convert the radially acting X/Y forces on the guide bushing into an electrical signal.

The sensor body is made from a single piece and has a special structure, giving the sensor very high dimensional accuracy and low crosstalk between the two forces acting on it.

Thanks to its special design, the sensor has excellent linearity properties and is designed for long durability in dynamic applications.

The two independent signal connections allow flexible adaptation and further processing.

Task

A manufacturer of car tyre balancing machines requires a load cell that can detect force in various measuring ranges in the X- and Y-directions. In addition, the cross-talk between the two measurement signals must be very low. At the customer’s request, a special X/Y load cell was designed for this measurement task.

Task

Vehicle tire testing places particular demands on our load cells. Measurements must be acquired and analyzed simultaneously in two directions, X and Y, which demands low cross-talk between the two channels. The other challenge is posed by the very large number of load cycles. In the event of a fault, maintenance staff must be able to replace the sensors quickly and reliably to minimize down times.
