|
The model 8524 precision tension/compression load cell is a highly accurate force transducer for a wide range of applications. Optimum measurement quality is achieved when the load cell is mounted on a flat, hardened and ground contact surface. In small measuring ranges up to 0 ... 2 kN, this can be neglected, as three knife-edge bearings ensure that the sensor stands securely. The model 8524 sensor is mounted to the system structure using through holes in the outer flange. The force is applied via the centric internal thread, optionally via a load insertion button. Alternatively, the sensor can be equipped with load centering plates and, if necessary, rod ends, so that pure tensile forces, such as in Bowden cables or chains, can also be measured without any problems. The model 8524 sensor is suitable for measuring static, quasi-static and dynamic compression and/or tensile forces.
The sensor contains a bending diaphragm to which strain gauges are applied and connected as a Wheatstone full bridge. If the sensor is subjected to a tension or compressive force, the ohmic resistance of the measuring bridge changes and detunes the output signal in mV/V in proportion to the measured force.

Task
Even autonomous driving needs some tasks done by hand; for instance charging an electrically powered vehicle. Inserting a charging plug in the charging socket involves overcoming a slight friction force to make sure it engages positively in place. The plug must have a high breaking strength for safety reasons yet also be comfortable to operate using a small amount of manual strength. The 8524 load cell is ideally suited to integration in a test facility and provides high resolution measurements of the required friction, latching and end-point forces.

Task
The press force of a hydraulic press needs to be monitored in order to apply the correct process force to the part. The top press table is prevented from tilting by two linear guides. The 8524 load cell, with a measuring range of 0 ... 100 kN, is connected directly to the hydraulic cylinder.

Task
The 8524 load cell is designed for versatility. This combination of 8524 load cell and attachments can also be used easily as a torque arm for indirect torque measurement.
