The torque sensor presented here is suitable for static and dynamic measurements of non-rotating torque transmissions.
The detection of reaction torques of rotating machine elements is also possible. Therefor torque sensors with flanges are preferably used, which are installed between motor and stator, e.g. on agitator drives. This makes maintenance free torque measurement possible.
For special measuring tasks, the design of our torque sensors can be adapted to the installation conditions.
Further application examples:
- Test setups in precision mechanics
- Determination of bearing friction torques
- Detection of breakaway torques on screw caps
The design has been optimised in terms of length, weight and volume so that axial forces up to relatively high limit values and bending moments up to 20 % of the measuring range only have a minor effect on the measuring element. The measuring element carries metal film strain gauges, which are interconnected to form a Wheatstone bridge. By applying a DC voltage to the Wheatstone bridge, the mechanical quantity torque is converted into an electrical voltage. The required amplifier supplies either a Standard signal (0 ... 10 V, 0/4 ... 20 mA) or - with a display module - a torque display with the correct measured value.
The output signal of the sensors is standardised so that the measuring chain does not need to be recalibrated if the sensors are replaced.
With the burster TEDS option (electronic data sheet, memory chip with the sensor-specific sensitivities), quick configuration of compatible evaluation units (measuring amplifiers, indicators, etc.) is possible.

- Automatic sensor recognition thanks to burster TEDS
- Easy to fit and integrate in process
- Zero-maintenance torque measurement
Task
The requirement is to measure continuously the torque acting on a geared unit with dispenser on continuously running equipment used for filling bulk-material containers.
Specific Requirement
Indirekte Messung des Drehmoments über das Reaktionsmoment des Motors.
LÖSUNG
This is achieved by fitting a 8627 flange sensor directly on the drive motor, with no axial offset, for a static torque measurement. Additional support is provided for the motor to avoid any axial load or bending moment on the sensor. The through-holes around the flange circumference make for easy fitting. An additional analysis instrument identifies the sensor automatically. Limits are used to monitor for load spikes and protect the system against overload.
